The 2019 Pey La Tour Réserve du Château is classy, elegant and polished, just as it was in barrel. This mid-weight Bordeaux Supérieur opens beautifully in the glass, showing lots of red berry fruit intermingled with scents of forest floor, dried rose petal, herbs, cedar and pipe tobacco. All the elements are very nicely balanced.

This 330-acre Entre-deux-Mers estate has produced a ripe, wood-aged wine. Big tannins and black fruits have a bite of spice and pepper from the high alcohol. That should dissipate as it ages. Drink from 2023.

Falling under the Dourthe umbrella, the 2019 Château Pey La Tour Réserve Du Château is another attractive, well-made wine offering solid red and black fruits, notes of sappy herbs, cedar pencil, and tobacco, medium body, and a clean, enjoyable finish. Drink bottles over the coming 5-7 years.
